- Bill for nat’l building code subject for engineering, architecture courses hurdles House
Engineering and Architecture students will soon be taking up a national building code subject in Philippine colleges and universities. House Bill No. 5087, or the proposed Integration of the National Building Code to the Engineering and Architecture Curriculum and Professional Licensure Examination Act, passed on third reading at the House of Representative. It received no negative votes and abstention. Its aim is to ensure that the engineering and architecture students will be well-versed on the provisions of the National Building Code of the Philippines. Philippine Daily Inquirer
- Century Properties expands PHirst project in Batangas
The Century Properties Group has launched its first mid-tier community called PHirst Editions Batulao. The company expects its 14-hectare property in Batangas to generate P3.1 billion sales from its projected 629 housing units. Philippine Star
- Demand for flexible workspace surges in PHL
Global workspace innovation company The Instant Group said Metro Manila registered a rise in demand for flexible workspace. It added that demand levels may even reach 112% more than before the pandemic hit due to the popularity of hybrid work setup among industries. The firm said it is the opposite of what is happening in other Asian cities where there is an actual slump in flexible workspace need. Businessworld
- 4 Megaworld office buildings receive gold, silver LEED certifications
Megaworld’s One Paseo in Pasig City and Worldwide Place in BGC received the Gold LEED certifications. Its Alliance Global Tower and Uptown Place Tower 3 in Uptown Bonifacio got the Silver LEEDs. The certifications are from the US Green Building Council and Green Business Certification, Inc. To date, Megaworld has seven gold and 10 silver LEED certifications. Businessworld
- ALI’s tallest building
The South Tower of Park Central Towers in Makati has finally risen to its full height of 248 meters, making it Ayala Land Inc.’s tallest building so far. ALI recently held the building’s topping off ceremony. Businessworld
- Gov’t housing program expected to support 80 industries
DHSUD Secretary Jose Rizalino Acuzar said that the government’s housing program, the Pambansang Pabahay para sa Pilipino, will benefit 80 industries connected to housing construction. Among the top 10 of these industries are steel and metal manufacturing, cement, veneer and plywood, refined petroleum producers, sawmills and wood, and wholesale/retail businesses.
